Bioinformatician (m/f/d)
Position Overview:
The Bioinformatician is responsible for developing and maintaining bioinformatic workflows, integrating data from various sources, and constructing and utilizing databases, data models, and APIs. This role serves as an interface between biologists and computer scientists, facilitating effective communication and collaboration.
Your tasks in detail:

Develop and Maintain Bioinformatic Workflows: Create and manage bioinformatic workflows using programming languages such as Python and R to support various research projects and initiatives.

Data Integration and Management: Integrate data from multiple sources, including online databases and in-house knowledge repositories, ensuring data is accurate, consistent, and follows the FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable).

Collaborate with Biologists and Computer Scientists: Serve as a liaison between biologists and computer scientists, facilitating effective communication and ensuring the accurate translation of biological concepts into computational models.

Enhance Drug Discovery Workflows: Understand the biological concepts within BioCopy and independently set up and improve workflows needed for drug discovery projects, focusing on optimizing efficiency and accuracy.

Focus on Antibody Specificity: Conduct research and develop methodologies to assess and improve antibody specificity, contributing to the identification and mitigation of off-target effects.

Cooperate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with other teams, such as the machine learning team, to integrate advanced computational techniques into bioinformatic workflows.

Documentation and Reporting: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for bioinformatic workflows, data models, and APIs, ensuring transparency and ease of maintenance.

Troubleshoot and Resolve Data Issues: Provide support for data-related issues, troubleshooting problems and implementing timely solutions to ensure smooth workflow operations. Bioinformatician (m/f/d)

Continuous Learning and Improvement: Stay updated with the latest developments in bioinformatics, computational biology, and related fields to continuously improve and innovate workflows and methodologies.
Your profile:
Education:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a related field. 5 years of experience with a proven track record of successful projects.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Python and R.
- Experience with bioinformatic tools and databases (PSQL).
- Strong understanding of data models and API construction.
- Basic machine learning skills, including data preparation, feature extraction, and decision trees.
- Experience in the field of drug discovery and development.
Soft Skills:
- Excellent problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and break down project goals into work packages for effective completion.
