Technicians / Service Engineers - DTU Nanolab (m/f/d)
Do you want to be a member of the Nanolab team at the Technical University of Denmark. DTU Nanolab is among the world’s best-equipped open access facilities within micro- and nano fabrication and characterization. We are located at and fully owned by the Technical University of Denmark just north of Copenhagen. We are currently seeking one to two dedicated and service-minded technicians or service engineers to do maintenance and repair of several of the highly technological equipment we have in our facility.
Job description
You will become a member of the Lithography and Wet Chemistry group. The group is responsible for more than 100 advanced tools, some inside our cleanroom facility other in neighboring support and back-end laboratories. We cover a wide range of tasks within photolithographic and chemical processes, chip packaging and inspection. We are also responsible for repair and maintenance of our equipment as well as setting up new processes. Our main purpose is to support nanolab’s users, who are students, researchers and private companies and to secure that our equipment is well maintained and meets our ISO9001 certified quality standards.
Primary tasks
The position requires you have a flair for and interest in electronics, mechatronics and automation, as most of our equipment has elements in all these areas.
You must be comfortable with handling larger equipment that can contain different chemicals such as solvents, acids and bases.
- Take part in equipment maintenance
- Troubleshooting and repair of broken equipment
- Purchasing spare parts
- Organizing maintenance and repair tasks
- Documentation of breakdowns, repairs and maintenance tasks
- Equipment maintenance and repairs also includes several fume hoods and wet benches with automatic sash and processing baths as well as optical microscopes.
Most of the work will take place in our cleanroom facilities.
This further implies that you:
- are able to work in an environment where it can be necessary to wear specialized safety and protective equipment.
- are able to respond quickly and effectively in emergency situations, including evacuation in case of alarms.
- are able to perform tasks that require work while standing up and mobility for longer periods.
- Are mentally able to handle work with potentially hazardous chemicals and gases in accordance with applicable safety procedures.
The workplace puts high demands on both physical and mental robustness, as safety in the work tasks is crucial. We offer thorough training and support in the role.
Qualifications
We expect the qualified candidate for the position to have a minimum of 3-year relevant education within electronics, mechatronics or automation or a bachelor in engineering. You must be self-driven and pro-active and have an eye for possible safety issues. Since you will be working as part of a team, it is important to have a positive and open-minded attitude.
Further, we expect you have some of the following skills:
- experience with troubleshooting
- experience within mechatronics
- experience with computer controlled automatic systems
- basic knowledge of programming and other IT skills.

Salary and appointment terms
Salary and appointment terms are in accordance with either the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (AC), or the OAO-S Joint Agreement and the organization agreement for Laboratory Technicians and IT staff (HK/Stat), for Craftsmen and Technicians, for Engineering Assistants and Research Technicians at research institutions, etc., or other relevant agreement.
The position is permanent and full-time (37 hours per week). Starting date as soon as possible (according to mutual agreement).
The workplace is DTU Lyngby Campus.
