PhD Student Pharmacy, Chemistry, Neurobiology (m/f/d)

The position is linked to the research group of Prof. Dr. Thomas Budde (Institute of Neurophysiology) conducted in close collaboration with the group of Prof. Dr. Guiscard Seebohm (Abt . Cellular Electrophysiology and Molecular Biology).
Subject of the work will be the characterization of modulators and functional analysis of neuronal Kv7 channels. The PhD student’s work will focus on work with: transfection of heteromeric channel constructs; electrophysiology in oocytes, cell cultures and brain slices; modeling individual neurons and networks of neurons using NEURON.
We will provide a structured 3-year cutting-edge PhD student training program in and beyond the fields mentioned above.

We are looking for a motivated and qualified PhD student holding a state examination degree in pharmacy or, alternatively, a master’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry or neurobiology. Good command of spoken and written English, communication skills as well as team spirit are essential. German language skills are not a requirement, but a willingness to learn is desirable.
