PhD position in matrisomal biology of cancer (m/f/d)

Within this project, we aim to understand how the interplay between extracellular matrix composition and individual cell populations within the tumor microenvironment influence tumor biology. This includes organotypic slice cultures and primary cell isolation, transcriptomics and proteomics, genetic engineering via CRISPR/Cas9, as well as advanced multiplex immunofluorescence imaging.

We are seeking:

A highly motivated PhD candidate to join our interdisciplinary research team investigating the role of the extracellular microenvironment in the context of renal carcinoma. The laboratory focusses on dissecting the relevance of cell-matrix interactions in complex pathologies (kidney disease and cancer). The project is part of DFG funded Collaborative Research Center (CRC) Nephrogenetics (Nephgen - CRC1453 - second funding period).

Qualifications:

Master's degree in Life Sciences (e.g. biology, biochemistry, molecular medicine, pharmacy)
strong background in molecular and cellular biology
Experience with cell culture techniques and imaging (including fluorescence microscopy), standard molecular/biochemical techniques
programming skills and/or in-vivo work is highly desirable
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

The position is initially limited for 48 months (with the possibility for extension). Salary group according to TV-L E13, 65%.
