Internship in Upstream Process Development (m/f/d)
This position is only available as a mandatory internship.
Full-time position for a minimum of 4 months, starting as soon as possible
On-site in Freiburg, Germany
Option to continue with a master's thesis
What you will do
- You will work on the media optimization and process understanding for our moss upstream technology.
- You will exploit the full potential of the expression system and support the team in developing a robust and scalable upstream technology.
- Your tasks will include experimental work for media optimization, metabolic analysis of cultivation samples, and theoretical work for the understanding of cell metabolism in moss cell cultures.
- You will work closely with other R&D departments. By doing so, you will actively contribute to interdisciplinary work and provide practical support in the laboratory. We are a dynamic and, above all, very collaborative company in which we support each other in driving our projects forward and creating a unified perspective on our technology.
What to bring
- You are currently pursuing a master degree with a mandatory internship semester in biotechnology, bioprocess engineering, biochemistry, or a related field.
- You have initial experience in the field of upstream processing, particularly in fermentation and cell culture, or demonstrate a strong willingness to learn.
- You have a solid understanding of cell metabolism and protein expression, or are eager to develop it.
- You have gained first experience in research and are able to design, set up, and execute experiments independently.
- You have a structured and solution-oriented approach to your work, are a team player, and show initiative in actively improving processes.
- You communicate fluently in English, have basic knowledge of German, and work confidently in an interdisciplinary environment.
- You are proficient in MS Office and ideally familiar with software tools for design of experiments (DoE) and data analysis.
