Activities and responsibilities
The UKE offers the opportunity to perform cutting-edge research within an excellent research environment. The junior research group of Priv.-Doz. Dr. Johann von Felden (homepage:
www.vonfeldenlab.com) focusses on translational research projects in the field of oncology, with the main objective to derive molecular biomarkers for implementing personalized cancer care for patients with liver cancer. We aim at deciphering mechanisms of hepatocarcinogenesis and identifying biomarkers to predict the response to therapies or improve early cancer detection. We utilize state-of-the-art technologies and modern analytical pipelines, incl. gene editing, murine liver cancer models, next-generation sequencing, and liquid biopsy approaches.
Your tasks: - To continue our established biobank
- To plan and execute experiments, including the establishment of novel protocols and techniques incl.
- Genetically engineered murine liver cancer models (major focus of the project)
- gene transfer with lentiviral vectors in cell culture and organoid models
- gene expression analysis (e.g. PCR)
- functional analysis incl. proliferation and migration assays
- cell sorting and FACS
- General and administrative tasks in the laboratory
This position is, in accordance with the WissZeitVG, temporary for 3 years (65% of regular working hours).
Qualification profile
- Academic degree in molecular life sciences, biology, biocehmistry, immunology or related field
- Previous research experience, particularly in the above-mentioned techniques, would be preferred
- Previous experience in the field of oncology is preferred
- Good knowledge in English, both written and spoken
- Very good experience in MS Office; previous experience with data analysis, e.g. R is preferred
- Thorough and structured attitude, solution oriented
- Ability to work in a team
- Eager to learn, and readiness of mind
