PhD position in Biomedicine/Vascular Biology in Tübingen, Germany

We are looking for a highly motivated doctoral researcher to join project P4 “Crosstalk of cGMP and extracellular matrix signaling in atherosclerosis” (supervised by Dr. Susanne Feil). This project uses state-of-the-art transgenic mouse models and imaging technologies to determine how cardiovascular risk genes control the pathological behavior of vascular smooth muscle cells in atherosclerotic lesions. The PhD program supports an international internship in the laboratory of our collaborative partner at Tufts University in Boston, USA (Assist. Prof. Robert Blanton), who is also co-advisor of the doctoral thesis.

A Master's degree in life sciences or equivalent is required for the position. Applicants should have a strong interest in cancer biology and in working at the interface of biochemistry, cell biology and biomedicine. Ideally, candidates have previous experience with mice and/or fluorescence microscopy.

Initially a 3-year contract, salary level TV-L 13 / 65%
