The Max Planck Society (Max-Planck-Gesellschaft zur Förderung der Wissenschaften e. V.) is leading the way as an independent, non-profit research organization dedicated to promoting cutting-edge basic research. At 84 Max Planck Institutes, more than 26,000 employees conduct basic research in a wide range of fields in the life and natural sciences, as well as in the humanities, social sciences, and law, with a strong interest in innovative and interdisciplinary research areas.

A mentoring program, in which the postdocs are supported in their research and career development by a second mentor in addition to their primary supervisor, is an integral part of the program and provides helpful guidance throughout the entire period of employment.
