The Department of Dermatology, University Hospital Tübingen, in the working group of
Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Birgit Schittek - Natural Immunity of the Skin -, the position of a
Research Associate
is to be filled from 1.3.2025 on or later.
The position is initially limited to 3 years and available for PhD students or qualified doctorate scientists.
The scientific focus is a DFG funded project to investigate the role of tissue-resident macrophages on S. aureus skin colonization and on the inflammatory skin diseases psoriasis and atopic dermatitis. There is a close cooperation with the Interfaculty Institute for Microbiology and Infection Medicine and the Werner Siemens Imaging Centre in Tübingen.
Activities and responsibilities
The tasks of the research associate include the implementation of a wide variety of methods: microbiological methods (e.g. antimicrobial tests, creation of different bacterial cultures), biochemical methods (e.g. SDS-PAGE, Western blot, chromatography), immunological methods (immunofluorescence, live cell imaging, immunoprecipitation, ELISA , FACS) and cell biological methods (e.g. cell culture, 3D skin models, transfections, proliferation tests, apoptosis assays), mouse infection experiments.
Qualification profile
Applicants should be reliable and able to work in a team and have good practical experience in diverse cell biological, immunological and infectious research skills and with the methods mentioned above. Experience in cell culture and animal experiments is an advantage. In addition, we expect the results to be documented on the computer with the Windows programs Word, Excel, Power Point, GraphPad Prism. Applicants should already stay in a European country and should have a residence permit to work in Germany for the next three years.
