DZNE is a world-leading, internationally oriented center for cutting-edge research into diseases of the nervous system. With its outstanding research personalities and state-of-the-art infrastructure, it offers the best conditions for publications and results at the highest level.
Around 1,200 employees at 10 locations in Germany are working together on new approaches to better understand and effectively combat diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and ALS.
That is our goal - maybe soon yours too? Become part of the DZNE and support us in realizing our research strategy!
The group of Dr. Daniele Bano investigates molecular mechanisms associated with neurodegenerative diseases. We are interested into understanding the genetic and non-genetic basis underlying the heterogeneous clinical manifestations associated with inherited mitochondrial lesions. Consistent with our previous published studies (see dzne.de/en/research/research-areas/fundamental-research/research-groups/bano/publications/), one goal is to identify disease modifiers that can counteract aberrant mitochondrial metabolism
The team is actively seeking a dynamic and science-driven postdoc with a passion for hands-on experimental work. The successful candidate will be an important reference point for the work in our laboratory, as they will conduct experiments to finalize ongoing projects and will develop novel lines of research, including studies on risk factors that promote Parkinson’s disease. Most of the experimental studies will employ Caenorhabditis elegans as an in vivo model organism, whereas iPSC-derived neurons / glia will be used to confirm newly identified molecular mechanisms. Additional details about the different projects and career perspectives will be discussed during the interview.
The new team member will have the opportunity to expand their scientific knowledge and skills by performing multi-omics (RNA sequencing, proteomics, metabolomics) data analyses. Additionally, the new co-worker will manage state-of-the-art equipment within the laboratory and will contribute to the training of undergraduate and graduate students.
