Activities and responsibilities
In your PhD, you will contribute to a project on protein-protein interactions in
infections, or concerning the development of novel antibacterial strategies in the
context of bacterial gene regulation. We focus on gastrointestinal infections, such as
Helicobacter pylori, Escherichia coli and Campylobacter jejuni. The project will be
conducted in the lab of Prof. Dr. Christine Josenhans (main mentor), jointly mentored
by a Thesis Advisory Committee.
Qualification profile
We are seeking you, a highly motivated individual with high interest in scientific work,
who would like to perform your Ph.D. in an interdisciplinary and international
environment. We anticipate you to be an applicant with an excellent previous scientific
training, very good communication skills, and the ability to work as part of a team as
well as self-motivated.
Prior experiences in protein biochemistry (protein expression, purification and characterization, Protein structural analysis), glycans and nucleic acids, or microbiology, molecular biology, genomics and genetics will be beneficial for successfully conducting the project. Expertise in microbiology and hostpathogen interaction will also be considered a plus.
