As part of the Bioinformatics Integration and Operations department at BioNTech, you will work in a multidisciplinary environment and collaborate closely with scientists from different departments, software engineers, quality assurance, and regulatory affairs to develop, implement, and operate validated bioinformatics pipelines that are designing individualized immunotherapies for cancer patients in clinical trials. Your main responsibilities are:
- Development and maintenance of the existing bioinformatics pipelines by engineering, testing, and validating robust, portable, and high-performance software
- Bioinformatics analysis of NGS data, including evaluation and presentation of the results to different stakeholders
- Involvement in the design, conduction, and evaluation of method validation studies to assess the suitability of the methods for their intended use in clinical trials
- Evaluate novel bioinformatics packages and databases
- Development of new bioinformatics methods and software
- Handling of operational tasks in clinical trials
- Creation and maintenance of appropriate documentation for quality and regulatory compliance
What you have to offer:
- PhD in bioinformatics, mathematics, physics or life sciences, or master’s degree/diploma plus first relevant professional experience
- Experience in analyzing and interpreting high-throughput processes, including NGS data, and in using state-of-the-art bioinformatics tools
- Ability to work on different projects with different teams
- Good documentation, communication, and presentation skills
- Proficiency in a programming language (preferably in Python) is a requirement
- Experience in working within a GxP regulated environment and with computerized system validation would be beneficial
- Ideally sound knowledge of immunological and molecular processes in cancer
- Background in containerization and cloud development is an advantage
- Fluency in written and spoken English is a must
